We were on the Radiance of the Seas for the western Caribbean cruise on November 28/04. This was our second cruise with Royal Caribbean with our first last year on the larger Adventure of the Seas. After a cruise with RCI, expected I am about the same standards of the Radiance and in general, I was not disappointed.
Cabins:
Our cabin was an inside aft cabin and we were not disappointed. It was spacious enough and the lighting was adequate. Storage space andDrawers were also sufficient for our use. We have found that the double here, actually a little better than those of us on the adventure because we can not really split between two separate beds, we feel like the last time. If there's one thing that can be improved is the shower curtain. The one installed was not adequate in the sense in all the water from the shower. The shower on the Adventure uses a double glass door system that was far superior. Otherwise, the cabin ispretty dark at night for sleeping. Although we are to make a little noise from the cabins next to us, it was minimal. We did not miss a window or balcony at all since we hardly ever in our cabin. We were either at port or elsewhere on the ship and went back to our cabin to relax or sleep. We would be definitely a book inside cabin again with RCI, if we had a free upgrade.
Dining:
The main Cascades dining room was beautiful and the meals were good. Breakfast had thethe same menu every morning. Lunch in the dining room was okay. The dinner was good, but not every meal is the winner. There was the odd appetizer and dessert that is not up to par. One thing that was my partner noticed that the proportions of the main courses seemed to be less than that served on the adventure. We went into general upward to the Windjammer to get more food after dinner in the Cascades. In some parts of the Cascades area, the tables were laid out on foot spasms soown table was at times difficult. The self-serve Windjammer was good. It was, in general, more variety of food served, as the bottom of the Cascades. Breakfast and lunch were busy at the Windjammer but during evenings, most people chose to dine at the Cascades. The two other optional restaurants onboard Portafino choppe house and were available at U.S. $ 20 per person, but we never tried it, since the courts were already in the Cascades and Windjammer by us in order. Other passengers who do not gothese optional rooms told us that they are nothing special. It was another café during the late evenings called the Seaview and they provided fare such as sandwiches, salads and burgers. That was a nice feature. One thing that we have raised no objection was that they made for the coffee and tea are available in accounting. There was also a specialty coffee on the main center of the vessel and pay them well. We had more availability of free beverages on the adventure.
Service:
The serviceby the cabin attendant and dining room staff was first rate as expected.
Entertainment:
The evening shows at the Aurora Theater was a mixture of own ship's complement of dancers and singers as well as some outside comics and singers. In general, the show has been very good. We would have liked them to mix up the entertainment each night rather than allocate music, comedy and magic in different evenings. Instead of an entire show of magic, we would have preferred each night with aVariety of entertainment options. Live music on the ship had taken a nice contact.
Facilities:
Although smaller than the Adventure, the Radiance had fine amenities in the gym / spa, mini golf, swimming pools and shops. There was Internet access, but at 50 cents per minute, the service is a little steep. There were things to do during the days at sea, such as art auctions, cooking demos and dance classes. But we felt that there was more offered on the adventure. As for the import andGet out, there was no problem on the Radiance. The 6th Plane containing the casino and for non-smokers, this was a problem. The ventilation in the casino was not great, and traveled as a result, cigarette smoke to adjacent areas near the casino. My partner wanted to avoid, on the 6th Hold level possible.
It must sum up, we enjoyed our cruise on the Radiance of the Seas. "But compared to the larger Adventure of the Seas, we would rate the larger ship a bit higher. Welike the great promenade on the adventure, not based on a smaller ship like the Radiance available. In an election in the future we would be bigger for the ship. For the first time would be cruisers, the Radiance is still a good ship to vacation on. This is simply the case where veteran cruisers would expect, especially if it was at the upper end of the ship.
